Does anybody write blogs anymore? Yes, they do. They are like a quiet backwater of the web; not exciting, dynamic or cutting-edge. They are the billabong to one side of the river of the web. Why have I, mjb decided to start a blog? One reason is to write frequently without striving for perfection. Another reason is to tell small stories that I think are worth telling. Another, is to use this as a occasional travel blog, telling the small anecdotes of road trips in the western back-blocks of New South Wales, or the quirky culture of Colombia or where-ever else I may be lucky enough to find myself.
I don't have any great pretensions for this, but I will try to write carefully.
A friend has been writing a travel blog for four decades (yes, even before the web become known- I presume he just copied his travel diaries into the blog). If you are planning to go somewhere then I recommend you have a look at El Mon d'en Quino because it is truly remarkable (he has been to many, many countries and writes well about all of them). The only obstacle is that you may need to use some automatic translator from Spanish or Catalan.
